About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile Cloud Field Engineer to support global enterprises in adopting cutting-edge private cloud infrastructure, Linux environments, and cloud-native technologies. This role blends cloud architecture, hands-on engineering, and customer-facing consulting.

You will design, deploy, and optimize scalable cloud solutions using leading technologies such as Kubernetes, OpenStack, and Ubuntu, while contributing to open-source innovation.

This is a fully remote position based in Africa, with occasional international travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement private and public cloud solutions tailored to customer workloads
  • Work across the full Linux stack, including kernel, networking, storage, and applications
  • Develop and automate infrastructure using Python and infrastructure-as-code practices
  • Architect and deploy solutions leveraging technologies such as Kubernetes, OpenStack, Ceph, Hadoop, and Spark
  • Collaborate directly with customers to deliver, test, and transition solutions into production
  • Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to team members and clients
  • Contribute to open-source projects and cloud-native tooling
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performance engineering culture

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
  • Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts and platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Hands-on experience with Linux systems and networking
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Python programming
  • Experience with cloud-native tools such as Kubernetes, OpenStack, and Ceph
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and passionate about continuous learning
  • Strong organizational and follow-through skills
  • (Bonus) Proficiency in a second language
