About the Role
Malaria Consortium is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented English to Hausa Translator to support the development and localization of high-quality health communication materials. The successful candidate will translate technical and public health content while ensuring accuracy, cultural relevance, and clarity for Hausa-speaking audiences.
This role is critical in ensuring that program messages are accessible, contextually appropriate, and effectively communicated to target communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate written materials from English to Hausa while maintaining accuracy and original meaning
- Ensure translated content aligns with the structure and format of source documents
- Adapt technical and health-related terminology into clear, audience-appropriate Hausa language
- Review and proofread translations for consistency, clarity, and grammatical accuracy
- Maintain cultural sensitivity and ensure messaging is appropriate for intended audiences
- Deliver high-quality work within agreed deadlines
- Submit final translations in editable formats (Microsoft Word or equivalent)
Required Qualifications
- Diploma in Communication, English, Linguistics, or a related field
- 1–2 years of proven experience translating English to Hausa
- Demonstrated experience working with international organizations (preferred)
- Strong understanding of health communication or public health terminology
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to manage tight deadlines and deliver accurate work consistently
- Strong written proficiency in both English and Hausa
Evaluation Criteria
