About the Organization

New Incentives is a nonprofit organization focused on improving child health outcomes by providing small incentives to caregivers who complete routine immunizations for their infants. With a strong evidence-based foundation, the organization is expanding its impact by piloting innovative and cost-effective health interventions.

Role Overview

The Program Explorations Associate will play a key role in identifying, testing, and refining new program initiatives aimed at increasing healthcare impact. This position combines fieldwork and strategic coordination, requiring regular travel to Nigeria to observe pilot programs, engage stakeholders, and assess implementation quality.

You will work across teams to translate field insights into actionable improvements and contribute to the design and evaluation of new interventions.

Key Responsibilities

Fieldwork & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Travel to program sites in Nigeria to observe pilot initiatives (e.g., ORS distribution, SMS immunization reminders)
  • Identify operational challenges and recommend practical solutions
  • Conduct supervision visits to ensure adherence to survey protocols
  • Engage caregivers, healthcare workers, and field staff to gather qualitative insights
  • Build relationships with government health officials at state and local levels
  • Evaluate program fidelity prior to scale-up decisions

Internal Coordination

  • Collaborate with Engineering to improve data collection tools and processes
  • Partner with Operations to develop training materials and field protocols
  • Work with cross-functional teams (e.g., Audit, Stakeholder Relations) to ensure program quality
  • Translate field observations into clear, actionable recommendations

Program Design & Evidence

  • Support implementation of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and surveys
  • Review research and synthesize insights to guide program decisions
  • Define and monitor key performance indicators for pilot programs

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, International Development, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in program operations, field research, M&E, consulting, or similar
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and address operational challenges
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience managing multiple priorities in a remote work environment
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
  • Willingness to travel for extended periods (2–4 weeks at a time)

Preferred

  • Experience working in sub-Saharan Africa, especially Nigeria
  • Familiarity with impact evaluations or randomized controlled trials
  • Background in NGO, research, or consulting environments
  • Knowledge of global health, immunization, or maternal and child health programs
