Design Engineer at Supabase

About the Role

Supabase is seeking a Design Engineer to join our Design Team and take full ownership of the user experience across our marketing and documentation platforms. This is a hybrid role where design and front-end development are deeply integrated—you will conceptualize, design, build, and ship experiences end-to-end without traditional handoffs.

You’ll play a key role in shaping how developers interact with Supabase across our website, documentation, and campaign microsites. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, async environment and enjoys turning ideas into polished, production-ready experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end design and development of Supabase’s marketing and documentation sites
• Continuously identify UX/UI improvements and ship enhancements independently
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Documentation teams
• Design and implement high-quality layouts, typography, diagrams, and code examples
• Build and deploy responsive web pages using modern front-end frameworks (React, Next.js, Vite)
• Contribute to and evolve the design system and reusable component libraries
• Improve clarity of technical content through visual storytelling and interaction design
• Take initiative in prioritizing and executing impactful improvements

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in both design (Figma) and front-end development
• Experience building for developer-focused products or technical audiences
• Hands-on experience with React, Next.js, Tailwind CSS, and modern UI libraries (e.g., shadcn, Radix)
• Ability to own projects from concept to deployment with minimal supervision
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Cursor, Codex, Claude)
• A portfolio demonstrating live projects, side projects, or experiments
• Strong communication skills and comfort working in a fully remote, async team
• Ability to balance speed, quality, and usability

Nice to Have

• Experience in developer tools, SaaS, AI, or startup environments
• Interest in open-source ecosystems
• Experience creating technical documentation or educational content
